History of StackCare

Stack Lighting was founded in 2013 to create a new type of responsive light bulb, the team there was working on occupancy and spatial awareness from the very beginning.  Early on, the seeds of an idea were there as Stack’s Data Scientist realized that the embedded motion detection could offer valuable other products.

Lighting studies running circadian patterns in retirement communities offered an ideal opportunity to start collecting and validating data.

In September 2017 Stack Lighting was divested and StackCare was born by a few of us with aging parents and grandparents deciding that we should attempt to build a new product that would give us some daily insight into how our loved ones’ are doing.

Less than a year later StackCare was born and we started to implement a professional version for retirement communities. Over 18 months Stack built up working relationships with a number of communities from California to Vancouver to Tennessee to Toronto and points in between.

So many people requested an at-home version of StackCare that we decided this was a must! In December 2019 'StackCare @home’ was launched online to friends and family.

Covid-19 lockdowns saw us spend 18 months developing the professional version of StackCare for home care providers and since 2022 we have been rolling out to agencies across the the country.

What StackCare Does

Data science algorithms constantly search for anomalies and atypical occurrences or events and when something is spotted the notification platform issues an alert back to the specific account holder.

This all happens in a fraction of a second.

StackCare then continuously learns and adjusts for each individual resident over time. This helps maintain accuracy as behaviors change as residents age or change their routines.
